Hello, and welcome!

About BJW

Established Sept 19, 2006, Bakersfield Jazz Workshop is a 501(c)(3) non-profit community organization dedicated to education, appreciation and promotion of jazz music in Bakersfield and Kern County, California. We engage with our community through weekly workshops, scholarships, free clinconcerts, and other activities.

Weekly Workshops

Every Tuesday, BJW holds a workshop, open to the public, consisting of a beginner jazz ensemble class, a featured artist concert, and an open jam session. Free admission. Family-friendly.

How to Support BJW

We rely on voluntary donations from attendees, businesses, venues and other community organizations. These donations may be tax-deductible (consult your tax advisor).

Workshop attendees can drop a donation in the "tip jar" that is passed around each week. Local businesses and community organizations can make donations in person at the workshop, online below, or by mail. Our 2025 scholarship program was supported in part by a grant from the Arts Council of Kern, and through contributions from our attendees and participants.

Another convenient way to donate is to setup a recurring monthly donation online!
